Meet Rachel Hodin, author of 'Wear Mail' (and her former roomate, Marc Sebastian)

In news no one asked for, I’ve gone ahead and done what nearly every other writer out there has already done, just a couple years too late. Yes, I’ve started a newsletter. Really to just redirect my gluttonous appetite for online shopping in any direction that isn’t my bank account, but also in hopes that this may offer a tiny, joyful respite from our harsh reality and perhaps a few giggles too.

Now, onto the good stuff.

What is WEAR MAIL?

Your resource for excellent and shoppable vintage finds, second-hand treasures, and small, under-the-radar designers and brands. These recommendations will be fed to you in tasty, bite-sized edits—each curated by theme, sprinkled with fun reads, and sent straight to your inbox (if you make the wise decision to subscribe).

Why is it worth your time?

Because here’s the thing. I have wasted untold hours tracking down what I can only describe as very cool shit. I have squandered a good chunk of my life unearthing obscure online vintage shops, uncovering small brands and fledgling designers, and delving head-first into the uncharted depths of every resale site imaginable. I have gone where no human has gone before. I’ve reached the bitter end of many a Vestiaire member’s 7000+ list of Favorites. I’ve endured an unremitting barrage of heinous upon hideous excuses for designer bags, risking my eyesight and sanity just to find the cheapest of all presentable options eBay has to offer. Then I add those to my “Watchlist” and continue on this joyless trudge.

It is from this vast reservoir of resources that I will be plucking a handful of spectacular finds—which I will then share with you in weekly newsletter blasts (that will also live here as posts), each peppered with little dustings of historical context, funny anecdotes, snapshots from vintage magazines, or else compelling nuggets of information that may inspire you creatively, speak to you intimately, or propel you down a rabbit hole of further research and discovery that you would have never traversed otherwise.

And rest assured, when it comes to sourcing fashion online, I find it all. The Tom Ford Gucci, the Vivienne Westwood clompers and the equally covetable clodhoppers that won’t put you in debt. But also those still-hopeful, fresh-out-of-Central Saint Martins fashion prodigies SSENSE will very soon be groveling for, they just don’t know it yet.

All so you don’t have to. And so that one day, I can say that the (most likely) years I’ve spent scouring every crevice of the internet for tremendous finds was not for naught.
